[13]

Hey guys! Not much has happened lately, I know.

November is a crazy month at my church because of the boys and girls Vida Nueva weekend. So we are pushed for when we will take coats and blankets to The Nest in November! We are going to have a workday October 31 from 12-2. Bring a snack and 2 liter drink and we can eat as we go! :) Anyone who wants to help that day is more than welcome, even if you are not going on the trip Sunday. We need your help to get ready because a lot of preparations have to be made! Then November 1st we will make a trip to the Nest leaving around 5:30 and stopping along the way, as normal. But this time we can only let around 10 people go. Since we are handing out clothes we will not need 30 people going. So e-mail me or talk to me very quickly to go!

We still need clothes donations and will take them until November 1st. Contact me to donate or bring them to the Church at Bradford Road.

Thanks in advance!

God bless,
Katie Green

[12]

I met with my youth pastor to discuss upcoming events yesterday and I am so excited for what is coming our way! Let me first give you two very important dates and then I will tell you what I need you guys to do!

-September 12th We will meet at my church [Bradford Road in Springville] at 2 o'clock. We will work until 4:30 and make bags of cookies to take on the next trip and then sort clothes that have already been brought to us!

-September 13th We will be taking a trip to The Nest in Birmingham. Be at the church at 5:30! We should be back no later than 8:30-45.

Now, what I need help with from you guys...

I need someone before Saturday the 12th to print and cut copies of bible verses for the baggies. The more people that volunteer the less you will have to do! I will give you colored paper and the verse. Just e-mail or call me and let me know you can.

Go through your clothes! Get old clothes and blankets out and put them in a garbage bag. We are taking up clothes and blankets for the trip in November. We need these AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! It is going to be very organized this year, which means a lot of preparation.

We can get our own t-shirts made to sell!! We just have to get a design to Brother Kevin. I need YOUR ideas. Send them to me at spread_hope09@yahoo.com I want a black t-shirt for sure. I don't know about writing and stuff yet. It needs to be kept simple. Go go go! :)

We will have a meeting soon. When I know more I will let you know!

[11]

Wow. I know I neglect this blog a lot.. But it has been a VERY busy Summer for me. I know, that is no excuse. I'm going to try harder though!

Before I update you on our trips you guys need to know we are redoing membership. This ministry is SERIOUS about we do. When we make trips I only want people going who are dedicated to ministering to these people. You may have never been and don't know if it is for you.. I encourage you to go at least a couple times to see. The first time is usually awkward.. But after that it does get better. We are asking questions about the ministry, you, etc to help us see if you are really involved for the right reasons. If you have not gotten these questions e-mail me at Spread_hope09@yahoo.com I am still encouraging you all to add our myspace. Myspace.com/spread_hope09
If you are NOT going to be involved or are taking a break due to Football please let me know. I understand you may have too much going on right now to give Hope for the Homeless your attention. Just let me know, please.
Connie and the group :D

We took Connie some shoes on the 12th. Connie is a man down there that is SO helpful. He always wants to help unload stuff, carry stuff, and set up stuff. When church's are unloading food from their vans, he helps. When we have boxes, he helps. He is so sweet. We bought him new shoes to say thank you. He told us that if he had of found God years ago it would have made his life so much easier. When he said that it really spoke to me. So many people say, "Well, I can do that Jesus thing when I'm older." or "Why bother in high school? I'll do it when I graduate." So many people won't accept Jesus Christ as their savior and follow him because they think they will live forever. There is a one hundred percent chance you will die one day. You do not know when that will be; it could be tomorrow. Why wait? People who have been saved think that they will live forever too. "Why do the hard things now? I have a long time to do that. I can help others when I'm old and out of high school." Wrong. God forbid that anything should happen to you but it can. Connie is wise and knows from experience. Don't wait.

Brandi and the Crossroads Girls

We went last Sunday, the 26th as well. When we took Connie his shoes we met a woman named Brandi. You can't tell in this picture but she is 5 months pregnant. She is due in November and believes it is a girl. She has a place to stay. It sounds like her and her boyfriend are trying to get back on their feet. We want to help her since she can't afford clothes. We bought her some maternity clothes at the thrift store in Moody, along with 2 baby toys and some neutral color baby outfits we found. If you have any maternity clothes you want to get rid of please let me know. This woman is very sweet and kind. She lectures the boys that go with us on how to treat a lady. She lectures us ladies on how we should never let a man mistreat us. Brandi is very spunky and it's hard not to love her.

Now for the future stuff. I'm not sure when we are going again. It will be soon though! Trust me, I will not let it be long. If you want to go contact me at spread_hope09@yahoo.com

We are trying to get enough water to take in August. We will take that along with the powder flavors. If you can donate a case of water or two it would be appreciated greatly. Contact me at spread_hope09@yahoo.com to donate.

Also, in September we will begin collecting clothes to take to the homeless. We need warm winter clothes. If you want to buy socks to put it, that would be great too. I encourage you all to go through your closets and donate old winter items. If you don't have any go to a thrift store and buy some warm items. To donate e-mail me at spread_hope09@yahoo.com

That is all that is new for now.

God bless,
Katie

When God first gave me the vision for this ministry I had no clue how it would grow and affect US. I have learned that it is NOT about us helping the homeless. It is about them helping US grow. Not one of our volunteers are the same as they were before this started. It has made us grow spiritually and I thank God daily for this change. We have quiet girls [the girls who won't talk to ANYONE] who now have no problem talking to people at ALL! [EVEN STRANGERS!] It is amazing.

I never thought we would leave Bradford Road church... And expand. Yes, this is our "headquarter" church but I feel the time has come to expand ourselves. Through this ministry we have had several people saved. We have also had people rededicate their lives to God. We want YOUR youth group involved.

Christianity is a relationship with your Savior, Jesus Christ. It is NOT at all about denomination. I don't care if you are Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, or a little blue alien. I want you to step up and help us minister to the homeless in Birmingham. We never go without enough adult supervision so do not worry about this.

If you would your youth involved email me at spread_hope09@yahoo.com or message for my number. I will come to you church and speak. I will speak on the message of how important it is not to waste your teenage years. This means that you should rise to your calling no matter what it is and do things outside your comfort zone for God. I can come any Wed. night or another night if you wish. PLEASE contact me soon.If you would information I can also give you that as well.

THANK YOU!

God bless,
Katie

Hey!

So many announcements and I tend to ramble so stick with me.. You are in for a long blog.

God is MOVING through this guys. I have NEVER in my life seen him do so much in so little time, right before my eyes. Every church has those quiet girls or boys. You know them, the ones who run from conversation, who don't get on stage.... Well... There is a girl who is involved who has opened up SO much. She has a lead in a drama and at The Nest last night was SO sociable with EVERYONE she came into contact with. She truely showed the love of Christ to the homeless. Then, every guy has the goofballs. The ones no one thinks will change.. They act up in church, etc... I watch those guys CHANGE and shine brighter than most. I watch bad girls who used to soak up drama like a sponge become on fire. And I have seen God show himself to everyone involved. It's amazing!!!

We went to the Nest yesterday and everyone there got a hygeine bag. There was only one man's bag left. Then some women's, but we expected that. We made a lot. Nicole and I will do inventory sometime this week. I'm pumped about what happened there. EVERYONE was social and I am so proud of them all.

I want to get other youth groups involved or just other kids from random churches! We need to come together and work for Christ. I don't care if you are Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal, white, black, or maybe even purple.. WE ARE ALL HERE FOR ONE THING! That is to serve OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST and to show HIS LOVE to the lost. Can I get an A-men!? If you want more information message me or have your youth pastor do so! Spread_hope09@yahoo.com I will come SPEAK at your church if you want, whatever you need to get your youth involved let me know. I have people from other churches involved and if they want their youth group involved... Talk to your youth pastor and EMAIL ME. Let me know! I will do anything and everything to get this out there and FAR!

This is going to be huge. I am here for a purpose and I know it... SO ARE YOU! Step up to the plate and help others! What good are you to the Kingdom if you aren't out preaching to the Lost and helping others?! Matthew 5:13 says "You are the salt of the Earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men." So tell me what you are good for if you lose YOUR saltiness? Then it goes on to say in Matthew 5:14-16 says "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." What this is saying is don't hide your light that you have. Your light is Jesus Christ shining through you, the HOLY SPIRIT. Don't be afraid to show it. You are made to lead people to Christ. That is why you are here, I promise. So SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS!!

Someone out there is thinking right now.. "Well, you see I know this and I would but I'm shy. I can't. It's hard for me. No one will talk to me so how do I do that? I don't want to be made fun of!" Do you worry more about pleasing others than God? That is not how you were made to be! Before you do anything stop and ask yourself "what would Jesus do?" I know that sounds so old school VBS but just try it! If you need a bracelet to ALWAYS remind you that, get one. Don't worry about what others think.

It's in the bible that you ARE going to be made fun of... If that is an issue with you then you will have to face that on judgement day. This morning I was down about a friend rejecting Christ and my feelings were hurt over some things that were said to me. A friend just texted me as I was in the middle of typing about spreading the good news and he told me to read 1 Peter 4:12-19, "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And,
"If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?"
So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good."

That is long I know I'm sorry but it's needed. Do you think God cares if you are downtown showing the love of Christ to a homeless man or woman instead of hanging out with your friends? You bet! He loves it. Need biblical proof? Here you go:
Psalm146:7 "He upholds the cause of the opressed and gives food to the hungry, THE LORD SETS PRISONERS FREE!"
Proverbs 14:31 "He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God."
Proverbs 21:13 "If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and NOT be answered."
Got enough yet?

Just because you are a teenager doesn't mean ANYTHING. In bible days, I would be a mother of SEVERAL children already. I'm 17. I would have been married at 14 or 15. There are not three standards in God's eyes. Just two, child then adult. Not, child... teenager... adult.
1 Corinthians 13:11 says, "When I was a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me."
Notice what this DOESN'T say... "When I was a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. Then I became a teenager and I looked like an adult but acted like a child." NO it says "WHEN I BECAME A MAN, I PUT CHILDISH WAYS BEHIND ME!" Put that immature thinking behind you.. The thoughts that say that it's not cool to hang with homeless people or it's not fair of me to give up my time for someone else. Also, put the thought out of your head that says I am too young to do this because Proverbs 20:29 says "The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old."
DO SOMETHING WHILE YOU ARE IN YOUR "GLORY". Not when you are old and can barely move!!! Don't wait, you could die tomorrow.

Now, I know there is an adult out there saying that it's too late for them. It's never too let. Plug in somewhere and DO something. Minister to co workers and anyone you come in contact with. Remember to ALWAYS support youth. NEVER bring them down. Don't put out their flame. Fan it higher with support.

Wow, that is so long. I didn't intend to start preaching but I am guided by the Holy Spirit. So I did because someone needs to see this.

Reread the updates if you have to and email me! spread_hope09@yahoo.com

Updates! Yay. I know it takes me a while and I am sorry. Once school gets out we will get more on here and hopefully our new site open. I need a computer genius.. Anyone know someone? [=

I hate that we couldn't go last Sunday guys.. I wanted everyone to be able to go and with that weather, even my Dad was iffy about me going. We will not go tomorrow because it is mother's day. Next Sunday we will!

I want to get going with CDs! I need someone who can burn me some music first... And more songs. I was thinking the first cds we make could be a cd that is dedicated to our generation rising up.. It's been said that we can/will be the generation to be on fire and rise up for the Lord. I fully believe we can be but it is going to take more evangelistic teens! Rise up! [wow off subject... I am going to do a typed sermon on here about that soon, promise!] And another CD for Girls... Songs that uplift the young women around us and remind us that WE are God's daughters and a PRINCESS! [=

Boys, I hate that you haven't been included much. One of you should step up and throw an H4H boys thing! Do a bible study. It is what us girls have been doing. We work on the stuff and do a bible study!

We are about to do a deodorant and SMALL things of bug spray drive. This is perfect for summer! We need churches involved all over! If your church can help email me spread_hope09@yahoo.com We want other youth groups on board! Jump on and email me!

What about a party for the end of the year? We can either charge admission or make it a donation of either deoderant, bug spray, or money to get in. I want your oppinions. I am going to talk to my youth pastor about this more tomorrow and figure out what we will do. Let me know your thoughts! We will need a band.. If you are a local CHRISTIAN band and want to play let me know! We'd love to have you. Also, if you want to help in anyway email me!

Also, the newspaper with the article about us ran last Thursday! I haven't had any emails yet but keep that in your prayers. When Nicole scans it I will put it on here for you to read!

God Bless,
Katie

Hey guys! We are about to visit the Nest again this Sunday night! I am not sure what time we are meeting at my church to leave, but I will post when I know so keep checking back! Friday night we are having a bag making party at my house, ladies only! We will have a spend the night party as we work on making bags.. I am unsure of how many we will make but if we finish early, it will be okay! We will do a bible study this time, I am unclear on what but it has been on my heart to do one this time. Suggestions are welcome. [= Not only will we make bags, we will decide on our next step. I want everyone to pray about this. The guys, and girls who aren't coming, need to e-mail me ideas. Once I have ideas we will vote on it. I will send out an e-mail to those who were not there to vote. I might even make a poll online, who knows. Ha ha. Friday night we can meet at my house between 5 and 5:30. If you want to attend and have something else to do let me know and you can definitely show up later! I want as many girls that want to come, to come! We will make room for us all in the living room.. Ha ha. Everyone needs to bring a snack food, like a bag of chips or something with them for us to eat. I expect a lot of girls this time. I can provide the drinks but everyone can bring food so that we can eat as we work. Also, we can make a taco bell run if you guys want. You can carpool with each other to my house. I will give directions if you e-mail me! If there is a problem about how you will get there, ask me and I will find you a way! I'm excited girls, we will have a blast.

I am so sorry guys that there hasn't been much for you. It's hard to make bags during the weekend at my house since an adult may not be able to be there at all times. Next time I will find a way! We might need to go to someone else's house, which is okay. Don't forget to e-mail me guys!

If anyone wants to volunteer now, e-mail me! I need your name, number, and e-mail. That's it.. You can be involved. Ha ha. I need as many teens [and younger] as I can get!

Keep Nicole and I in your prayers. We have our interview with the Leeds News tomorrow.

God bless,
Katie

Hey guys! Wow I have so many updates.

We made our first set of hygiene bags and God was moving SO much this last weekend. The girls who helped were: Laura Driggers, Brittany Williams, Brooke Williams, Kelsey Thompson, Stevie Thompson, and Nicole Bryan. They are awesome. I thank God so much for them.

I'm going to start off with making the bags.
Every girl but Nicole spent the night. She had family plans. She came the next morning. That night we did inventory and counted donations and what Nicole and I had bought. When we did this we realized we did not have near enough toothpaste, shampoo, or chapstick. Now, let me tell you guys how expensive chapstick is!!! O_O When we did this we went to Wal-Mart, which was around 9 o'clock. This was a fun trip. People looked at us like we were crazy. When we left, we went to Taco Bell.
The next morning was when God kicked it up a notch, haha. We started making bags. Originally, we had planned to make 120. Hal averages around 100 people at The Nest, so this was our goal. For some unknown reason when we finished we all looked at each other and said, "We have to do more!!!!" God had placed it on our hearts. We still don't know why honestly. So the seven of us went to Wal-Mart for shampoo and toothpaste. Once in line we went to pay and our cashier could not seem to count it out as the right total. Brittany decided to go buy Skittles in the line behind us and began talking to that cashier. Then, a lady came into line behind us. Our cashier started calling for her manager to come count out the money. We start talking to the lady behind us. She asked why we had so many toothpastes and shampoos. [62 to be exact haha] We gave our website to her and she told us she worked for Leeds News and could spotlight us!!! She gave us her number and said to call Monday. I did and now I am going next Thursday to interview with them. How awesome? We can get the word out here locally and get more help! Nicole is going with me, she has helped me out SO much it is unreal. She is a blessing. ANYWAY... that is not the most awesome part of the weekend by far. When we finished I gave our website to the cashier. Then, Brittany said the cashier behind us wanted to talk to me. I talked to her and found out her father was homeless. She thought that this was a good thing and told us she respected what we are doing. I gave her our website and told her we would do what we could to help her father. Then, outside there was a group of bikers raising money for children's cancer. We gave them our website and a donation. They e-mailed me Sunday saying they would help!

Now. Tell me God didn't do a ton in a 2 hour period!

Even better comes later though, promise.

We finished almost 200 bags, 193 to be exact. Wayyyyy awesome!

Sunday night was our night to go to the Nest and deliver. We get there and then find out the church who feeds them had cancelled due to weather. I'm not sure how many people were there because I'm bad at estimating but it was betwen 30-50 people. We had brought leftovers from our church's 101 class with us to give, a blessing from God. If not for that those people would have went hungry. We fed them and handed out bags. 17 teens and one 5th grader went with us. I'll post names later, I don't know everyones last names.

We go back to the church and decide to worship. It ends and two girls Ashley and Brooke call me to the back. They tell me they are ready to change and wanted to be saved. I prayed with them. This was amazing. I cried, for only God knows how long. I was SO happy. These girls are going to be MIGHTY warriors. I know it. Pray for them. [Sorry girls if I embarass you, I'm pumped!] They are going to help so many lives now that they are changing. It is the best thing that can happen to them. If you are reading this and don't know Jesus Christ as your savior.. E-mail me. He's there and He loves you more than you know and without him your life isn't as fulfilling as it can be. With Him you can be happy when there are thunderstorms because you know you have hope and someone is holding you ALWAYS! Spread_Hope09@yahoo.com E-mail me please. I want to share the greatest love I've ever known with you. [=

Wow, that is a lot of stuff for one blog. One last thing, I am working on a better looking website with FORUMS! So, if you are good with stuff like that e-mail me. [=

God Bless,
Katie

[4]

Hey guys! Sorry I am not updating a lot. I have been sooo busy. I have been e-mailing those who have given me their email adresses though. So I will start with what I've e-mailed out, but there is new stuff too.

The first e-mail was sent out after I spoke.

"
Hey guys! I want to thank all of you who were there last night. It stayed quiet and that helped me out a lot. I was nervous, I am not going to lie. I also want to say a huge thank you to those of you who kept it quiet out there. [= I have so much to say but I won't make this super long. But before I can say anything else we have two new members to our Christian family [who are recieving this email].. [= Remember guys as we make this project grow we need to make sure we keep each other held up and strong. We can't do this alone.

Now, I haven't updated the blog at this very moment. I am going to type up most of what I spoke on last night and make that a whole blog. Then, I am going to do one on what is coming up. I had a million craft ideas thrown at me last night. So don't get upset if I forget one. I bought blank cds today, 50. Someone had the idea of making worship/christian music cds. How awesome would that be? So I need you to email me a song and who sings it that you would like to see on this cd. If you have more than one... Trust me that is OKAY! lol. [=

Someone suggested shirts, if we can figure out how to do that.. It'd rock!
Also we had:
A Bake Sale
Hemp Bracelets
Paintings
Springfest Booth- with face painting and crafts on sell!
Things to hang on your mirror in your car
Hairbows- Which I tried at first and failed at. So help is needed. [=
Fuzzy flip flops- with the fabric on the thong part
Car Wash

There were more but I can't remember everyone of them. I had so many thrown at me.
Also, I got two new colors of the bracelets. Camo color and orange. [= Camo should do well, especially at church.

Also, there is a chance we could have a booth set up at church during both services. Awesome right!? Which means I need people who can take turns doing that each week. Let me know.

This is longer than I expected but one last thing. If you are good at making awesome pictures, banners, or html.. Email me back telling me.

Thanks guys!
God Bless,
Katie"

Some of that has changed since then.
If we can get our banner we will set up the booth officially this weekend. How awesome?
I need help with the banner. I hope we can have it but I haven't told them a design. Help me come up with one!

Also, if you aren't on the e-mail list notify me at spreadhope09@yahoo.com I will add you to it.
I know some people don't check their e-mails often so I will update on here too... But e-mail is easiest.

After Easter, I don't know when... We will have a craft day. I'll update you when I know more.
Also, I need songs for a cd. Send me your favorite Christian songs name and artist please!

Plus I need someone who can make this site look spiffy and nice.
Good with HTML or photoshop?
Let me know.

I think that's it for now...
Send me stuff guys!

God Bless,
Katie

Great news! We have new updates!!

1. One of our volunteers, Zach, has helped us a ton! His sister is starting to recycle stuff. The money they get from that can go towards helping us make bags! How totally awesome. God is going to provide guys.

2. We know what we are going to make to sell. Bracelets. A ton of Springville kids have them, I know, but God will provide. Heather has volunteered to teach me and help me make these awesome bracelets out of bandanas. How cool right? Also I have people who volunteered to help make them too. So we are going to make them and sell them for about 2 or 3 dollars. I bought bandanas in 8 awesome colors.

1. Yellow 2. Purple 3. Black 4. Blue

5. Pink 6. Green 7. Red 8. White

2 or $3 dollars We are unsure how much now.

This is my bracelet that Heather made me. It's pink and purple. The light in my room is kinda bad now so it's darker looking than it really is, sorry. [That goes for both pics]
What do you think? Feedback please guys. [=
E-mail me at spread_hope09@yahoo.com and let me know what you think.
3. I am speaking on this issue not this coming Sunday but the next, as far as I know. And I will have bracelets to sell at church starting this Wed. [= Then every Sunday too. So if you are there you can buy. Plus my friend Rebecca has offered to sell some at her church too. When Spring Break is over expect people to be in the schools [Moody and Springville for sure] selling!
You are helping someone less fortunate. Thank you so much guys.
God bless,
Katie

Hey guys. I know it's been a while but things are moving slowly.
Laura, a friend who has volunteered, spent the night and we tried making hair bows.
It took two hours and we made 2. Needless to say we are slow and still aren't 100% sure on how to make a pretty hair bow to sell. If you know how or know an easy to learn from tutorial online. Email me.
The email address is Spread_Hope09@yahoo.com . It'd be appreciated.

Also, I need crafty people! I've heard from some people about crafts some people are doing for fun. I need to contact them. I've sent some of them a link to this so, HINT HINT! Ha ha. We definitely need to get a rolling!

My youth pastor at church agreed to let me speak on this subject one Sunday night in the next month. I'd LOVE to have a bunch of stuff to take and sale that night. So we need to get started. Over Spring Break I can have a craft making party at my house, maybe. It depends on if my dad has to work everyday. This would ROCK! Both boys and girls, crafty and craft-challenged people are welcome. I just need volunteers.

I've recieved some ideas, which were awesome. I want your feed back on this one. What if we had a party and charged admission, like 5 bucks maybe? The money raised would go towards making bags! I'm brainstorming on where we could have this party at, preferably somewhere that wouldn't charge us. I have a few ideas in mind, but I need to check on them. It'd be this summer when everyone is out of school. We could get some local bands to play, if they wouldn't charge. How awesome would that be? Email me feed back. Spread_Hope09@yahoo.com or if you know my personal email or myspace, that would work too.

Okay so I think that's it. Crafty people, EMAIL ME! Non crafty people, tell me your willing to help even though you can't do crafts. And send feedback on my ideas.

God bless,
Katie

The Beginning of Something BIG!

The Lord has a calling for each of our lives. He has something He wants us to do to glorify Him and it’s big, Also, it’s going to be hard. I was reading an amazing book called Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris, two twins who run the site http://www.therebelution.com . It talks about doing something hard and huge for God. He wants us to help the needy, which is clearly stated in the bible.

"He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God." Proverbs 14:31

"If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother." Deuteronomy 15:7

"Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." Proverbs 31:9

"A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor." Proverbs 22:9

"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered." Proverbs 21:13

"He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free" Psalm 146:7

I could write many more.

They desperately need us.

What exactly can we do to help the needy, aka the homeless? Imagine yourself on the streets every day. You can’t shower; you are covered in dirt and smell horribly. Every night you worry for your life as you lay yourself down to sleep; the crime rates are high in cities. If you are a female you can imagine what I could say about once a month. You have no food or drink and are desperately in need of it. You need a savior.

I want to help spread the good news of the Gospel while helping their needs. My plan is to make little bags with hygiene supplies and a tract. A tract is a pamplet presenting the Gospel, in case you didn't know. Maybe we could put in a granola bar, or something? This will take people’s help. We need money to start. We could make money by selling items such as homemade bracelets or hair bows. If you have a cheap craft that we could sell contact me! We could start ASAP! Any other ideas? E-mail me I am open to suggestions.

I need young people who seek God to help me with this. I need dedication and effort. Are you good at inspiring people? Help me write blogs and articles to get the word out! Good a graphic design? Design me posters to hang up around schools or other places to spread the word. Good at cheap crafts or something we can use to raise money? Donate your time and effort into making bracelets we can sell, don’t worry we won’t make you use your pocket money. It can be paid back to you with some of the profits. Anything else I have forgotten, e-mail me with it. Spread_Hope09@yahoo.com is the e-mail address.

The next step isn’t clear, brainstorm with me. E-mail if you want to volunteer and help out. It’d be so appreciated.

God Bless,
Katie
